Community Work at Moorcroft

At the Centre, we love using our horses to help the community in any way that we can. We understand how therapeutic horses can be in many human situations and the horses love interaction with calm human beings.  It helps us all in many ways. With that in mind, we are available and we help as follows:

Manor House School in Slinfold

This is an excellent local school which takes children with complex social, emotional and mental health needs. They visit us twice weekly now with some of their staff and they spend time getting to know how to handle the horses and groom them etc in a very safe and progressive environment. The children thrive on this break in their normal school day and are developing many skills and improving their own confidence in many ways. It is rewarding to use our horses and our staff in this way. We will continue to develop this worthwhile opportunity.

Restorative Justice Department in Horsham

We welcome young people who are involved in this scheme and have to do some hours work in the community. Teenagers arrive with their supervisors to spend a few hours helping this charity and they also get to spend time with the horses which they love and benefit from.

Care Homes & Retirement Homes

We regularly welcome groups from Care Homes to Moorcroft. They come and visit us to see our work and see the horses close up on a sunny day for a few hours and hearing their stories. The residents love coming out and seeing the work that we do, and it is always a joy to meet these people and spend time with them.

We provide them with a tour of the Centre and they can see the horses ridden from the safety of our indoor school gallery which is completely wheelchair friendly or outside safely around the outdoor school if the weather permits.  Both are easily accessible and safe.

Refreshments are also provided and it's a very enjoyable afternoon having a cup of tea and a chat.

We also welcome groups from organisations, Rotary Clubs and more.
